These photos reflect a taste of what we see on our walk to the Mission Office each morning. We've enjoyed a week in The Villa (originally built for Mussolini's daughter) but are looking forward to getting into our own apartment beginning tomorrow. We'll post new photos next week of our apartment and the views via the bus to the Mission Office.
This week has been packed with trying to learn our duties, which are quite extensive, plus the joys of seeing missionaries come and go through The Villa/Mission Home. We were invited to the "departing dinner" for 4 missionaries ending their mission on Tuesday and then the following evening to the "arriving dinner" for 1 missionary just beginning his mission. Missionaries spend the night in the Mission Home on their first and last night in the mission.
Thursday evening the Sommerfeldt's (the other office couple) took us on an adventure into the world of city buses and the Metro. We ended up in the heart of Rome. It is so dang hot and humid that most of Rome is on vacation in other parts of the world, which makes it a bit easier to get around but we are warned that the metro can be a crush of people and you have to be very pushy to get a seat or expect to be standing for a very long time.
Today we took another trip into the heart of Rome to purchase a year round bus pass, which will be our main mode of transportation. Rome is HUGE! It is 580 square miles. I'm glad we have 2 years to explore it!

How fun and exciting!!! Will you be on the same season cycle as Kingston in Rome? Is the mission home air conditioned? We love and miss you. Thanks for the updates and pics.
