Delivering Supplies to the Island of Sardegna

We were invited by President Kelly to deliver mission supplies to the missionaries serving on the Island of Sardegna.

This is a map of the cities within the Italy Rome Mission. To get to Sardegna, we drove an hour north to the port city of Civitavecchia and boarded a ferry.

The ferry Tirrenia travels through the night, departing at 10:30pm and arriving in Olbia at 6:00am. Boarding the ferry. The lounge... which we did not lounge in. Looking for our cabin. Our cabin with 4 twin beds and a private bathroom. In our jammies and ready for bed. Taking a photo in the mirror. So glad the mission financial secretary (Elder Burt) bought tickets for a sleeping cabin rather than the "First Class Sleepers". The rising sun greets us as we disembark. Our first glimpse of the beautiful countryside... as we travel away from Olbia toward Sassari... past the Church of the Holy Trinity of Saccargia built in 1116. Using the mission's GPS we find the missionary's apartment.... and great Elder's ready to haul the loot up to their apartment. Two of the Elder's were in Sassari doing exchanges. They loaded up two empty suitcases with as much as they could haul and were on a train heading south one hour later. Their kitchen/laundry room! Photo with Elder Mortenson (missionary extraodinaire!) On the road again.... past grazing sheep... past a sheep truck... toward the Capo Caccia Cliffs and the Neptune Caves. The entrance to the grotto lies only one meter above the sea level at the foot of the 110-meter-high Capo Caccia cliffs.You can take a boat to the entrance, but we choose to walk down the 654 steps. Look closely in the shadows and you will see Elder Burt talking on the phone. The missionaries can find us anywhere! Beautiful sea views. Looking down at the path. A brave seagull guarding her nest. As we left the cave a tour boat was unloading. Traveling back toward Olbia... facinating rock formations... wide open spaces... arriving at the apartment of our Olbia missionaries! We delivered Elder Flitton's birthday gifts (6 weeks late). It is so nice to be remembered.
