With the Sommerfeldts, we drove 2 ½ hours north of Rome to the city of Assisi.

It was cold, breezy and 39 degrees F. so we bought stocking hats from a street vendor.
We hiked up to the fortress hoping to go inside but decided that 8 euro each wasn't worth it, but we certainly got our exercise for the day!
This fortress was definately built "upon a rock"!

I have always loved the Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi and so it was special for me to visit his birthplace and to learn more about him. I purchased these copies in Assisi.

We are seriously contemplating putting in our papers and that particular post, along with your others is building a fire under our resolve.
