January 9, 2010 ~ Each Friday, the missionaries teach 3 English classes in the community center of Montopoli di Sabina, an hour from Rome. I look forward to teaching the advanced class where I have become friends with Federico (and others).

During our break between morning and afternoon classes we found a pizzeria in the town of Poggio that Federico recommended. Pizza is sold by weight. You point out the type and how much you want. Your portion is cut from the pizza sheet and put on a scale. It is then placed into a type of oven where it is reheated and the crust browned and made crispy.
We then found a shopping center where the missionaries could take care of their chocolate cravings and do some grocery shopping.
We walked through the medieval village of Bocchignano which is across from the community center’s parking lot.

If you look very close, you can spy Santa climbing a ladder. This is a very Italian tradition ~ to hang Santa's climbing up a rope ladder into a house through the window.He's easier to spot in this photo!

ReplyDeleteI always love the photos you share..they do remind me of when we lived there..although we never ate pizza by the pound..interesting..never saw that in the 3 years we lived in naples..oh a big old pizza from italy would be so "tasty" right now..oh my stomach is growling..:)
