Handiman Elder Burt to the rescue!

We were asked to do some repairs in two missionary apartments outside of our Zone.

We traveled south to Long Branch to take care of a hole in the wall caused by the missionary on the left's shoulder being thrown through the wall. He said they were just horsing around... hummm.

The Elder on the right is brand new from Honduras.  His name is Elder Rodrigues Rodrigues. In Spanish cultures the children's last name consists of their fathers last name and their mother's maiden name, which in his case is the SAME!

While Elder Burt fixed the wall, I made spaghetti for the missionaries.

They were most grateful.

Next apartment - fixing the toilet. 

Do you recognize Elder Miguel?  He was transferred to Red Bank.

Next job - deciding what to do about water damage from a leaking water container that was stored up high.  The decision was to do NOTHING!

An old colonial church in Monmouth, N.J.

We were only 15 minutes away from the ocean so headed out to see any remaining hurricane Sandy destruction.  Most of the beaches here have been cleaned up and new boardwalks are under construction. 

I took these photos through the car window of damage not yet repaired.

On a clear day you can pick out the above landmarks on the photo below.

At this overlook there is a memorial to the people from this area of New Jersey that died in 911.  The eagle holds a scrap of twisted metal from one of the twin towers.

On Sunday afternoon we went out - once again - to try and find people who are on the branch rolls but no one knows who they are - one of whom lives in this apartment.  I'm showing this photo to show how strong the wind was blowing - enough to tear the flag and blow garbage up against anything that would hold it!

This is a common sight - since the Newark Internation Airport is so close.

Sunday afternoon planning with the Elders and Danny - our YM's president.

The Pichardo's (Lachy and Tiffany) prepared a delicious meal of broiled fish and yummy garlic mashed potatoes for the missionaries (I brought the salad).  Lachy is a member of the branch presidency and Tiffany is the YW's president who I am blessed to work with.
